The beginning of my journey with Lyme disease is similar to most. My ending, however, is playing out quite differently than most. I found a tick behind my ear at the age of fourteen, and had various health problems for seven years before I was finally diagnosed with Lyme disease, Lupus, Mycoplasma, Bartonella, and Babesia. After two years my Lupus, Mycoplasma, Bartonella and Babesia are entirely eradicated. As far as my Lyme disease goes, I now have zero symptoms. My remaining ones are a result of withdrawals from the prescriptions I so naively started taking when I was initially diagnosed. How am I already returning to a healthy lifestyle only two years after forgetting to read, write, walk and talk? Well, a wealth of credit is owed to the Buhner protocol. I would not be where I am today without it. Still, I had one last giant “hump” in healing to get over after a year on the protocol. So I took a shot in the dark which, for me, turned out to be the path to light. I decided to make my own cannabis oil and began taking it every waking hour. I now owe my life to this fascinating herb and am hopeful some of you will find strength and encouragement through this information.
For a year and a half I had over ten seizures a day. I tried every treatment I could find, exhausting outlets in both conventional and holistic medicine. Desperately searching for answers, I stumbled across what turned out to be one of the most profound facts I have ever learned. Marijuana contains one of the most potent anticonvulsants in the world. Controversy over the subject was meaningless at that point, as the herb offered a possible solution to one of my most debilitating symptoms. As it turned out, smoking marijuana not only controlled my seizures, it completely cured them. With that in mind, I moved forward with my research. If it could do for seizures what no other plant or prescription could do, what could it do for Lyme? What I found was nothing short of fascinating, and essentially lifesaving.
Cannabis has over 700 healing components which, to the best of my knowledge, is more than any other plant known to mankind. Since my Lyme disease had reacted to and benefited from literally every herb I had taken, I figured it would without a doubt react to cannabis as well. Indeed, it did. Smoking marijuana had sometimes made me feel sick in the past, and I realized this could possibly be because it caused a Herxheimer reaction from bacteria die off each time. Experimenting what thankfully turned out to be an anything but crazy theory, I smoked an exceptionally large amount one night and suffered from a massive Herxheimer reaction. The next day, when it subsided, I felt I had regained a little chunk of my brain back. Since smoking the herb out of a regular pipe also means inhaling a lot of toxins, I began using a vaporizer to get more cannaniboids. My rate of improvement significantly sped up when I did this. Naturally, this motivated me to take treatment one step further and find out what the results of taking cannabis oil would do for me. After only a month of taking it I was able to return to work and school, and began to drive and have a social life again. Now, I am finally planning to move out and be independent for the first time in years. Basically, I am returning to a lifestyle that I was once unsure I would ever see again thanks to the immense healing power of cannabis oil.
Understandably, some will negate this article due to preconceived notions regarding cannabis, ones we were all conditioned to believe from a young age. Even I once held strong beliefs that cannabis was harmful to my health, but I could not be more thankful that I was proven otherwise. For me, the tangible proof stemming from first-hand experience will always trump the mere words of others.

Lyme disease has been controversial for some years. Many medical practitioners misdiagnose it, while several think that it's mental. With Lyme disease, there are so many symptoms, so many debilitating, agonizing manifestations, that it's often misdiagnosed as multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, lupus or a mental issue.
Lyme disease is caused by a spirochetal bacteria of the Borrelia genus. Spirochetes are composed of about 40% DNA and have double-membrane envelopes that make them difficult to trace and kill. They're apparently able to hide in deep tissue and change shapes to disguise their identities.
They're somewhat similar to the bacteria behind syphilis, as Lyme disease affects the nervous system and brain also.
Going through the medical system with Lyme disease is like being a ball in an old fashioned pinball game machine. Being on antibiotics forever is risking serious adverse events or at least reducing one's immunity to invite all sorts of other complications.
All this without a complete cure. But now there is considerable hope with cannabis.
There are two levels of handling Lyme with cannabis: managing symptoms well by smoking marijuana, or completely reversing the disease with cannabis oil. Not many are aware of cannabis oil pioneered by Rick Simpson a few years ago. Rick has said that most of the healing qualities of cannabis are lost in the smoke.
Alexis, diagnosed with late-stage Lyme disease, is an example of someone handling symptoms without pharmaceuticals by smoking marijuana. She was on antibiotics long enough for her gastrointestinal tract to be damaged and to be hospitalized with hemorrhagic colitis.
She was taken off antibiotics and put on several strong pain prescriptions that were barely effective while putting her into lower emotional states. Then she tried smoking marijuana.
That routine handled most of her nausea, enabled her to eat well enough to avoid wasting away, helped her sleep better and eased her pain while elevating her mood. She maintains that marijuana has been the best thing for her Lyme disease.
Alexis wrote, "In the hospital, I have needed to have morphine or lorazepam through an IV to accomplish what smoking two grams of cannabis does on the comfort of my couch, in a fraction of the time."  But Alexis is looking for a long-term solution.
Some have discovered that solution using cannabis oil for Lyme disease. Cannabis oil is a highly concentrated substance that's extracted and reduced from large amounts of cannabis with a good balance of THC and other cannabinoids.
It has become increasingly available in states that allow medical marijuana. But it's also available "underground" if you search on the internet. This is the stuff that has been curing cancer lately.
Shelly White's Lyme disease was so debilitating that she had endured at least 10 seizures daily for a year and a half. She began smoking marijuana from a pipe and then switched to inhaling it through a vaporizer. Just from that, her seizures had stopped. Then she decided to go to the next level of using cannabis oil.
After a month of the oil, she was able to return to work and school. At the time of writing her story, she was happy to announce that she could now move out and live on her own and enjoy a normal social life.

My intense suffering has made me desperate for a solution. On the morning of June 6th, 2008, while working on a research paper, I suddenly felt a horrific slicing sensation as if a blender was tearing my left arm into pieces. I stared at the throbbing limb. It was so painful I expected it to be bleeding; yet, it appeared to be in perfectly fine condition. No attack, no implosion, just my nerves firing out of control, and me helpless to fight back. From that moment, my perception of life changed completely.
After almost two years of searching, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and multiple joint pain. At twenty years of age, a rheumatologist looked me in the eye and insisted, “You need to learn to deal with the pain because it is going to be like this forever. You can focus on maintaining a perfect diet and sleep schedule, and with exercise you might see little improvement. But don’t hold your breath.”
That wasn’t good enough for me. Pain is a signal to a problem, not a diagnosis. I wasn’t going to stop looking that easily. It took seven specialists and eleven trips to the emergency room before anyone could find my diagnosis. I suffer from Late Stage Lyme disease.
On average, most Lyme patients go undiagnosed for five years. It is a cryptic condition. It wasn’t until I had symptoms in almost every system of my body that someone could put a name on what I was suffering from. My doctor explained to me that my disease is under wide debate in the medical community. The Center for Disease Control does not even recognize the chronic form.
Usually, being diagnosed sheds light on the situation. Not for a Lyme patient. Too little is known about the disease and its symptoms… My road to recovery with this disease is as unique as my dental records. The experience is different for every Lyme patient; the symptoms present head to toe. Yet, most of the victims maintain normal lives, hiding our painful truth behind our pride. A large percentage of us, myself included, look healthy to the naked eye. I know and feel my curse too intimately to ever be fooled.
Pain is an enigma. Our nerves are evolutionarily programmed to warn us of danger, of a problem in need of attention, but Lyme tricks the nerves into panic mode. I endure a litany of false alarms, and must distinguish when to listen. The pain in my left arm spread first to my right, then down my back and into my legs. I cannot sit in a chair or ride in a car for more than a half hour on a good day without experiencing severe discomfort in my legs and hips. I have developed circulation problems, muscle spasms, ocular migraines, nausea, light sensitivity, head pressure, depersonalization and fatigue. Sometimes I make cognitive errors in speech, and I suffer random anemic fainting spells. I won’t pretend these symptoms don’t frighten me, but over time they have simply become part of my new paradigm.
Living in chronic pain is a commitment to do battle. I have to fight for happiness, and for freedom. I have struggled to establish my particular, even alien, lifestyle. I initially devoted myself to this raging war and lost the first battle; several months of intravenous antibiotics left my digestive track in ruins. The day after Christmas 2010, I was rushed to the hospital to be diagnosed with hemorrhagic colitis. I was taken off antibiotics. Since then I’ve endured a colonoscopy and two endoscopies to diagnose me with gastritis, polyps, esophagitis, and a hiatal hernia. In June of 2011, I was diagnosed with numerous allergies including wheat, dairy, eggs, and tuna. This explains how I lost 25% of my body weight in the last year. I am 5’2” and I weigh 90 pounds if I consume on average 2,000 calories a day. My incessant nausea usually permits only that much.
My dreams and desires have been necessarily altered and adjusted to work around my limitations. My pain controls my freedom. I have been prescribed hydrocodone, oxycodone, lorazepam, and cyclobenzaprine. These narcotics changed my mood and personality, and did not relieve the relentless nerve pain.
My only relief stems from cannabis, but I am desperate for a more permanent solution to the problem. In the hospital, I have needed to have morphine or lorazepam through an IV to accomplish what smoking two grams of cannabis does on the comfort of my couch, in a fraction of the time. I understand the importance of peace in my bones.
Medical cannabis gives me tranquility. The escape from pain that it provides keeps me sane. It allows me to combat the nausea and keep my weight above dangerous levels. With its help I can sleep, use my arms, and even stop my muscle spasms and migraines. I am aware that my freedom is only through an independent agent. I prefer this life to an out-of-control mind-numbing narcotic addiction.
Although I cannot maintain a “normal” life, I am spending my free time writing my story to share with the world. I want to show that while it can be a daunting quest to heal the human body, there is hope to be found.
Even in something as unexpected as a flower.

The existence of the Lyme disease epidemic is officially covered up in the UK, its myriad presentations routinely misdiagnosed as everything from "M.E." to MS to hypochondria. This is the first admission by a US government body that the cause is an incapacitating biowar agent:
SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- The $10.6 million Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratory Building will provide a 22,000-square-foot facility to study such diseases as anthrax, tularemia, cholera, lyme disease, desert valley fever and other parasitic and fungal diseases. So, for the first time, a US government body admits that Lyme disease is a biological warfare agent. This is the reason that hundreds of thousands of men, women and children around the world have been left to rot with wrong diagnoses, or have had their Lyme disease acknowledged but been told that it is an "easily-treated" disease, given 3 weeks' antibiotics, then told to shove off when their symptoms carried on after that. In Britain the existence of the epidemic is denied completely, and virtually no effort made to warn or educate the public about the dangers of ticks, which carry the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi. The Borrelia genus has been a subject of biowar experimentation at least as far back as WW2, when the infamous Japanese Unit 731, which tortured and experimented on live prisoners, studied it. The reality is, Lyme disease is for many a chronic, horrendous, incapacitating disease producing crippling fatigue, constant pain, loss of memory, possible paralysis, psychosis, blindness and even death. It was an ideal biowar agent because it evades detection on routine tests, has an enormous range of different presentations, and can mimic everything from ADHD to multiple sclerosis to carpal tunnel syndrome to rheumatoid arthritis to chronic fatigue syndrome (M.E.) to lupus to schizophrenia. Enemy medical staff would never know what had hit them, nor even that ONE illness had hit their population, rather than an unexplained rise in dozens of known conditions. Honest doctors and scientists who tried to treat or research Lyme disease according to ethical principles have been viciously persecuted by government-backed organisations in the US, Europe and elsewhere. Many specialists in the US were threatened with loss of their license or had anonymous, false allegations sent to the medical board, which tied them up in mountains of paperwork and legal fees...some were forced out of medicine or even driven to suicide. Instead, medical disinfo agents, most of whom have a background in military/biowarfare units, such as Dr Allen Steere, Mark Klempner, Philip Baker, Edward McSweegan, David Dennis, Alan Barbour etc were enabled to assume top positions in Lyme research , CDC, NIH etc from where they issued false information , covering up the true seriousness and chronic nature of the disease, and comdemned untold numbers to a living hell. Can a tick bite drive you crazy?
Doctors warn that Lyme disease may cause personality changes

A walk in the woods nearly cost Mike M. his sanity. After receiving multiple tick bites, Mike broke out in an angry rash and his joints began to ache. In the next few months, his behavior grew increasingly bizarre. He was no longer able to read or concentrate, and became so anxious he couldn’t leave the house. Eventually, Mike was treated for chronic Lyme disease, an illness that can play havoc with the mind.
Since its discovery in 1975, Lyme disease has reached epidemic proportion in the United States. While the Centers for Disease Control reports 19,000 cases of this tick-borne illness in 2002, the agency estimates that the actual number may be tenfold higher: 190,000—that’s four times the rate of new HIV infections.
“Lyme disease is a major problem yet, tragically, many people fail to receive the proper treatment,” says Bernard Raxlen, MD, a Greenwich, CT, psychiatrist and secretary of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS), a medical organization dedicated to ongoing research and increasing public awareness of this devastating illness.
Lyme often begins with flu-like symptoms, headaches, fatigue, swelling of the joints, muscle pain and gastrointestinal distress. Most physicians have been taught to look for evidence of a tick bite and a red bull’s-eye rash, yet fewer than half of all Lyme patients recall being bitten or develop tell-tale skin eruptions. As a result many are misdiagnosed with other disabling illnesses such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, or MS.
As Lyme disease progresses, it can attack the nervous system, producing learning disabilities, mood swings, anxiety and depression, panic attacks, obsessive behavior, sudden rages and other psychiatric diagnoses. Says Raxlen, “When this happens, we’re looking at a completely different syndrome and one that is harder to cure.”
A recent European study shows that psychiatric in-patients are nearly twice as likely as the average population to test positive for Lyme, and the National Institutes of Health are currently sponsoring a major study of neuropsychiatric Lyme disease in an effort to illuminate specific changes in the brain.
Psychiatric Lyme has been linked with virtually every psychiatric diagnosis and can affect people of all ages and from every walk of life. A former honor roll student is diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder and pegged as a “problem kid” because he can’t sit still in class. A lawyer has to close her practice because she can’t concentrate and suffers from anxiety attacks. A young mother is so sensitive to noise that she can no longer tolerate her baby’s cry and is afraid that she will harm her child. A retired salesman develops a compulsive habit of writing all over everything—he covers everything from the tablecloth to matchbooks with meaningless scribbles.
Family members are baffled by these transformations; counselors and physicians are consulted, often to no avail. While these individuals may also have migrating muscles pain, headaches and problems with their joints—common signs of Lyme—these symptoms are rarely picked up in a mental health evaluation. And when traditional psychiatric medication fails to produce a cure, the patient grows more desperate.
The Search for a Diagnosis
“Most people come to see me because they’ve got something wrong that nobody else can figure out,” says Debra Solomon, MD, a psychiatrist who practices in North Kingston, RI. Fifteen years ago Solomon was confronted with a medical mystery. More and more patients were coming in with the same group of symptoms—fatigue, headaches, migrating joint and muscle pain, accompanied by anxiety, depression, and memory problems. When one of her patients turned out to have Lyme disease, she tested the others, and found that nearly all were positive.
Recent studies show that certain areas of Rhode Island have the highest tick population in the world. Today many of Solomon’s patients come from the island Jamestown, a small farming community where ticks are abundant. Among her cases are:
- A college student in her early twenties who started hearing voices. “She came from a good family and had no previous emotional problems,” says Solomon.
- A businesswoman who suddenly became manic-depressive. “In periods of high energy, she wouldn’t sleep and felt all-powerful. She’d start a new business and begin spending lots of money, then she’d crash.”
- A high school athlete had to drop basketball because he didn’t have the stamina and couldn’t get through his classes without falling sleep. “The teachers accused him of not paying attention, but he didn’t have the concentration to do the work.”
- A 40-year-old book editor who was gaining weight and getting lame in her left leg. “She couldn’t think or process information, and was worried about her job.”
“Lyme affects nearly every person on this island,” says Solomon, “yet each person responds to it in very different ways.”
How can a physician tell the difference between true mental illness and symptoms linked to Lyme disease? With Lyme disease, a patient’s psychiatric symptoms don’t quite fit the textbook definition. There is usually no previous history of psychiatric illness. Symptoms often come in cycles. Patients usually do not respond well to psychiatric medication. And they often describe their problems in very physical terms.
Lyme patients often say, “There’s a wall in my brain and I can’t seem to move my thoughts from the back to the front.” “This arises from encephalopathy, an inflammation in the brain that affects cognitive function,” Solomon explains.
Symptoms often worsen as the Lyme bacteria grow active and begin to reproduce. At the same time, a patient may experience physical symptoms, such as fatigue, muscle pain or headaches. Flare-ups are often triggered by stress, as in the case of Bob C. who ran a shipping department for a manufacturing company. Bob had dozens of people answering to him, but Lyme disease made him anxious and unable to concentrate. Because he couldn’t think, he lost his job, and his symptoms grew more intense.
Family problems, economic changes, job loss, surgery, an auto accident, or a bad case of the flu, can send Lyme patients into a sudden tailspin. Along with antibiotics, these people need to rest—and do anything they can to lessen their emotional load.
The catch-22 is that chronic Lyme disease makes it hard to think and perform one’s daily tasks. This inevitably causes financial hardship and puts a strain on family relationships.
Effects of Lyme Disease on Marriages
“My patients come in to talk about their marital problems and are surprised to learn that they are linked to an organic illness,” says Virginia Sherr, MD, a psychiatrist who practices in eastern Pennsylvania, another region known for its high rate of tick-borne infections. Ninety percent of Sherr’s patients test positive for Lyme disease. She then has the job of describing to them just how this condition can affect the mind and the emotions.
Lyme disease can cause increasing irritability and dramatic flares of anger, says Sherr.
“Suddenly you hear bone-cutting verbal assaults from people who are usually more measured and benign. They may have been harboring some small grievance for years, then that hot spot comes to life and they spew out all this venom. Such outbursts cause lasting wounds.”
While some Lyme patients become verbally abusive, others lose confidence and withdraw from social situations. Mary L. tried to explain to her husband that she no longer had the stamina for dinner parties and that she dreaded going out. The husband felt that she was faking it. “Mary’s husband and her internist, who knew little about Lyme disease, ganged up on her,” Sherr reports. “The doctor said, ‘You used to be so full of life, but you’ve less yourself go completely. You’re not even trying!’”
“Physicians who don’t know that Lyme causes personality changes may be dismissive or sharply critical of the patient. Our goal should be to educate couples and help them cope.”
Sherr cites one devoted couple who are both infected with Lyme disease. “The man has major cognitive problems and the wife helps him with his memory. She has bouts of extreme impatience, yet he gently guides her through them.” They have begun to weather the storm together—with the help of antibiotics and marriage counseling.
Lyme Disease and Domestic Violence
“Lyme disease often strikes an entire families and the result is a higher incidence of divorce, family dysfunction, and domestic violence,” says Robert Bransfield, MD, a psychiatrist in Red Bank, New Jersey. “Tempers flare and you see increasing conflict.”
“Lyme disease is like an injury of the brain,” says Bransfield. “Patient are less able to think things through, and tend to act impulsively. A mother may suddenly lash out at her child and a husband may lose control and abuse his wife. “We underestimate the role of infectious disease in domestic violence,” he adds.
AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION
Lyme disease is a hazard for anyone who spends time outdoors: avid hikers, gardeners, campers, cycles, runner, fishermen and hunters. Yet house-bound people can also pick up Lyme disease from the family pet. Lyme disease has been reported in every state in the nation, and can easily be picked up by those vacationers, especially those traveling to endemic areas along the East coast, Texas, certain portions of the Midwest, and Northern California.
In the spring, the biggest danger comes from nymphal ticks the size of a poppyseed and which are hard to detect on skin or clothing. By summer the ticks have grown to the size of a sesame seed. It’s best to wear long sleeves and tuck pants into your socks or high top footwear. Avoid high grasses and heavily wooded areas. Spray exposed arms and legs with DEET. Inspect yourself and your family for ticks. Use a tick comb on cats and dogs.
If you are bitten by a tick, see a physician knowledgeable about Lyme disease and get tested immediately. ILADS recommends using a laboratory that specialize in Lyme disease, such as IGeneX, in Palo Alto, California or IDL in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey.

An aggressive response is more likely if, in addition to Lyme disease, a patient has another tick-borne infection called Babesia. More than one infection can be transmitted by the same tick, and when Babesia is added to Lyme, this may make the patient more aggressive. “It’s like putting a match to gasoline,” Bransfield says.
Bransfield has testified in court on behalf of such patients who have been accused of everything from assault to murder. (In one instance, a patient killed his partner, killed the family pet, then killed himself.)
People with Lyme disease alone usually don’t go to these extremes. However, they may be irritable and prone to sudden rages. Bransfield says young people are the most likely to act out. “I’ve seen so many straight-A kids whose grades suddenly start to slip. Then they rebel against the family and start fighting with their peers.” They can also turn their rage against themselves. “I’m often on the phone with a teen in a state of crisis,” says Bransfield, “Feeling suicidal comes in waves and these reactions are very hard to predict. However, these kids generally improve after being treated with antibiotics.”
Schools are becoming more enlightened about the problems caused by tick-borne diseases, Raxlen notes. In Newtown, CT, for example, teachers are asked to report any sudden dips in grades or unusual behavior that may be linked to Lyme disease. And many make special arrangements for at-home tutoring while the student convalesces.
Losing Control of Life
When Lyme disease goes undiagnosed—or isn’t treated long enough—it can bankrupt businesses and destroy whole careers.
A CEO of an insurance company was diagnosed with Lyme disease and given antibiotics—but he didn’t take them long enough. Months later, his symptoms returned with a vengeance. He had ghoulish nightmares and woke up drenched. At work, he felt anxious and couldn’t concentrate. Eventually he forgot everything he’d learned about insurance. When he neglected to send in a disability payment on his own policy, the company denied his claim. “This man lost tens of thousands of dollars that would have helped him through his illness,” say Raxlen. “In the end, he had to sell his building and disband his business.”
People with Lyme disease often have trouble keeping up with ordinary tasks—one Connecticut housewife walked into the library, dumped her dry cleaning on the counter, and waited with increasing irritation for an attendant to help her. Finally a friend walked up and asked, “Don’t you know where you are?”
Lyme disease can also affect the part of the brain that deals with signs and symbols—making it hard to read maps or drive from place to place. A real estate agent with Lyme disease stopped at a traffic light. When the signal turned green she didn’t move. An angry motorist yelled, “What’s the matter with you. Why can’t you go on the green?” The woman replied, “I’ve forgotten what green means.”
“Lyme produces a microedema, or swelling in the brain,” says Raxlen. “This affects your ability to process information. It’s like finding out that there’s LSD in the punch, and you’re not sure what’s going to happen next or if you’re going to be in control of your own thoughts.”
ILADS physicians say these symptoms can be alleviated or reversed with antibiotics, but stress that Lyme disease must be diagnosed early and treated right away.
Treating Lyme Disease
Most doctors prescribe three to four weeks of antibiotics for initial cases of Lyme disease. Yet according to the ILADS, this is not enough. The Lyme bacteria has a “cloaking device” that enables it to hide in the cells and body tissues. If it’s not completely eradicated, symptoms will recur and with great intensity. To avoid relapses, ILADS recommended six to eight weeks of antibiotics.
When Lyme disease moves into a chronic stage, it’s more likely to lead to neurological or psychiatric conditions. Chronic Lyme patients are harder to cure and may need to take antibiotics—orally or intravenously—for months as a time. In this case, ILADS recommends continuing treatment for at least six to eight weeks after all symptoms are resolved.
“Lyme disease is often misdiagnosed and it’s costing our healthcare system untold millions of dollars,” says Raxlen. “No one is spared, neither young nor old and each individual can display a puzzling array of symptoms. This illness can have a wide-ranging affects on marriages, families and jobs.”

A revolutionary new paste called cannabidiol looks promising in the treatment of several illnesses including Lyme disease. Dr. Ernie Murakami presents his findings to Hope residents about the potential benefits of cannabidiol on a plethora of diseases including diabetes.
Local resident and former Hope practitioner Dr. Ernie Murakami is on the verge of a medical breakthrough that could revolutionize the face of medicine and upset a potentially grossly misdiagnosed population according to his extensive life’s research on Lyme disease.
“The medical profession is being criminally negligent,” said Murakami of misdiagnosis’ being made in relation to the onset of Lyme disease.
An 84 year-old activist who now teaches at a naturopathic facility and is the founder of the Dr. E. Murakami Centre for Lyme Research was once a prisoner in the Japanese-Canadian Internment camps during World War II.
He is no stranger to controversy.
Mild-mannered in his approach — the patriarch, who was disenfranchised by the B.C. medical community spoke passionately about his work during a recent presentation at the Fraser Canyon Hospital to a group about the effects of a relatively new paste on the market known as cannabidiol.
The derivative of marijuana, which is also a vegetable, boasts healing properties equal to traditional methods (antibiotics,) without negative side effects according to Murakami’s early findings.
His preliminary research suggests that cannabidiol, which can be legally purchased at the Green Cross Society of B.C. in Vancouver could potentially be used to treat a variety of illnesses including diabetes, cancer, fibromylagia, chronic pain and multiple sclerosis.
Having treated a vast number of Lyme disease patients and lecturing for over 40 years in the medical community as a specialist in bacteriology and immunology, Dr. Murakami sought treatment for chronic sufferers who experienced symptoms of pain, arthritis, fatigue, depression (with suicide ideation) mental fog and organ failure.
An undiagnosed epidemic of lyme disease in North America is presenting itself in the form of other illnesses and is correlative to the onset of Lyme disease, based on results of Murakami’s work.
Current environmental conditions are providing a healthy breeding ground for the ticks, who do not traditionally survive in cold temperatures. An influx of warm weather during winter months is allowing the pests to flourish and go undetected by their hosts.
This has been denied by the proper authourities as stated by Murakami and may also be linked to dwindling moose populations.
“I once had a patient who suffered from severe depression — the medical community said she was a mental case, but I insisted on doing the tests and we found that her symptoms were the result of Lyme disease (which is contracted through the implantation of a tick),” he said. “The leading cause of death in Lyme disease is suicide — the depression is that bad.”
Conservative in his approach toward marijuana, Murakami was dead against the use of pot smoking, but became interested in the benefits of cannabidiol paste, as it didn’t possess the psychotic effects traditionally induced by marijuana usage.
After discovering he had a brain tumor Murakami used the paste to treat it, after researching a case where cannabidiol dissolved a Glioma tumor. This resulted in its disappearance.
“I thought this was an impossibility, until I saw the MRI reports showing the absolute resolution of the tumor in four months,” he said.
Other anecdotal cases of cannabidiol treating chronic infections, which have been resistant to standard antibiotics have been cited in his preliminary research; suggesting, the possibility that cannabidiol has an antibiotic effect.
Research, which is in its initial stages and involves testing cannabidiol on live spirochetes (infectious bacteria,) has stood up to preliminary inquiry and provided solid evidence for the necessity to continue with further testing.
“I made them better and I was condemned for it,” said Murakami of the reception of his work by the medical profession and by UBC, where he was a teacher for five years.

How Marijuana Can Treat Lyme Disease
You probably have not heard much about the correlation between Lyme Disease and Cannabis, thats because very little research has been done; however, it’s apparent that cannabis is one of the safest and effective treatments for peripheral neuropathy, a crippling symptom most patients with Lyme disease suffer from.
I was prompted to research this topic after meeting two charming and intelligent tick researchers who are currently tasked with eradicating Lyme Disease in Block Island, RI.
What is Lyme Disease
Lyme disease is a common illness transmitted by ticks in North America and Europe, caused by a bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi. If a rash appears in a bull’s-eye patten around the bite, this is a hallmark of Lyme disease. Flu-like symptoms including chills, fever, fatigue, headaches, swollen lymph nodes, muscle and joint stiffness, and body aches may also occur.
How is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) Disrupted in Lyme disease?
Little research has been done on this topic. Many patients bitten by ticks infected with the bacteria that causes Lyme disease get better with no treatment, while some have permanent symptoms years later even after treatment. It is possible that patients with Lyme that do not get better may have underlying problems with their immune systems. As the cannabinoid receptor type 2 (CB2) is found on immune system cells, it is likely that the ECS is impaired in these patients and prevents them from bouncing back after infection with Lyme.
How Does Cannabis Help Lyme disease?
Cannabis is effective at killing bacteria, viruses, and fungus. All 5 major cannabinoids (THC, CBD, CBN, CBG, and CBC) has been shown to kill MRSA, known as the “flesh eating virus.” Less studied cannabinoids such as 8-hydroxycannabinol have potent antibacterial properties, and single extracts may provide new targets to kill the bacteria that causes Lyme disease.
Cannabis may also be effective at treating the later stage symptoms of Lyme disease. Cannabis can help reduce pain, spams, headaches and nausea. Initial treatment with antibiotics for Lyme disease can damage your gastrointestinal (GI) system as well as kill all the healthy bacteria in your system, leaving your body open to fungal and bacterial infections. Painkillers can also damage the lining of your GI tract, which is lined with cells containing CB1 receptors. Eating cannabis or taking cannabis oil can stimulate these CB1 receptors to repair the GI tract and reduce unwanted symptoms such as stomach pain, food sensitivity and diarrhea.
How Can I Take Cannabis For Lyme disease?
In order for cannabis to be effective at fully eliminating the bacteria that causes Lyme disease from your body as well as reverse the long-term damage to your nervous and immune system, its suggested to eat as much cannabis oil or cannabis in edible form as possible. Tom Grier shares these images which came from the brain autopsy of a man afflicted with Lyme disease. Grier tells us, "attached are autopsy photos of the Lyme bacterium inside human neurons. This is a very big concept in microbiology and makes treatment and detection very difficult and possibly impossible. No test can detect this condition in the living with any definitive accuracy.
The main point is that Lyme gets into the brain, we can't test for it, and all the brain studies are done by physicians on their own nickel. We can get millions from the CDC and NIH for deer and tick studies but nothing for studies that prove the experts wrong and the patients are disabled by this disease."
Additionally, C2C listener Chris shares this helpful link to an interactive map which tracks cases of Lyme disease in dogs throughout North America. As Chris says, "The practical usefulness of this map is that human patients can't even get their doctors to consider Lyme as a diagnosis because "we don't have Lyme here.'"

Are Candida and Lyme Linked?
Now, that’s a tricky question to answer with a direct yes or no. Although no direct link has been found between Lyme disease and the yeast Candida, the relationship between the two just cannot be ignored. In many cases, the symptoms of Lyme disease just plough the ground for the cultivation of Candida overgrowth. The yeast has got nothing to do with the disease and yet in some of the studies it was reported that it was Candidiasis and not Lyme disease which an individual has contacted which got diagnosed after a long period of suffering. Mercury and Lyme Disease: partners in the destruction of your health
Mercury should be given utmost respect and requires entirely different approaches for removal than do other fat-soluble toxins. Mercury detoxification is a subject that deserves great attention in its own right, and it cannot be overlooked as part of a book on Lyme Disease therapies because the two conditions are often linked. Although not everyone with Lyme Disease has mercury toxicity, evidence has repeatedly shown that having Lyme Disease increases the probability of becoming mercury-toxic. This is the case even when a significant mercury exposure has not been identified―as we have said, mercury is in our everyday environment so a singular point of exposure is not necessary to accumulate mercury in the body.
Why does mercury toxicity often accompany Lyme Disease? Below we will examine possible reasons why Lyme Disease and mercury poisoning frequently go hand-in-hand. We’ll also see how the two illnesses adversely impact each other.
Mercury catalyzes infections and severely weakens the immune system, so it is not a big leap to accept that people with mercury poisoning would be more susceptible to chronic infections like Lyme Disease. Conversely, Lyme Disease weakens the body’s ability to detoxify poisons, so it is not inconceivable to imagine that people with Lyme Disease are more susceptible to accumulating mercury (even from minuscule exposure). But in people with both Lyme Disease and mercury poisoning, which came first? Did the mercury come first, eventually allowing the Lyme infection to thrive, or did the infection come first, weakening the body enough to cause dysfunction in the mercury detoxification process? If mercury toxicity did come first, why did the person become mercury-toxic?
Here are a few possible scenarios that explain how and why mercury toxicity and Lyme Disease are often companions:
A person who does not have Lyme Disease may have a genetic susceptibility to becoming mercury-toxic because of a deficiency in liver function. Should this individual be exposed to mercury and become toxic, a suppressed immune system will inevitably follow, and infections will become established with greater ease. Therefore, if exposed to the Lyme bacteria, the individual would be more likely to develop full blown, chronic Lyme Disease than would someone not mercury-toxic.
Or, the converse may happen: A completely healthy person, with no genetic predisposition to becoming mercury-toxic, may acquire Lyme Disease. The infection might weaken the body and its mercury detoxification abilities. The body would then no longer be capable of removing the mercury to which it is exposed on a daily basis.
Another possibility is based on the fact that, as part of its life cycle and survival mechanism, the Lyme Disease organism itself accumulates and sequesters mercury. Many researchers have observed that some infective organisms, once established inside the human body, store or use mercury to create a living environment, a niche within the body, inside which the body’s defenses are compromised and weakened due to the presence of this heavy metal. Because mercury is an immunosuppressant, it is feasible that the Lyme Disease spirochete sequesters mercury in the body as a tool for continued survival in the host environment. The spirochete would do this by grabbing onto minuscule amounts of mercury circulating in the body due to regular (small) daily mercury exposure. After time, the Lyme Disease organisms would store up more than just a minuscule amount. Significantly increased body burden of mercury would result.
Yet another scenario exists when an individual is unknowingly exposed to a large amount of mercury (such as mercury from an old thermometer or use of old, banned mercury products). This might cause mercury toxicity (even without a genetic predisposition) and thus allow a chronic Lyme infection to become more easily established due to the immunosuppressive effects of mercury poisoning.
Individuals who discover that they have both chronic Lyme Disease and mercury toxicity find it nearly impossible to unravel the mystery of which came first. Regardless of how it happens, mercury toxicity often accompanies chronic Lyme Disease, so many Lyme Disease sufferers must undertake mercury detoxification. Most people who have Lyme Disease complicated by mercury toxicity do not experience significant improvement in their Lyme symptoms until the mercury is removed.
Concurrent mercury toxicity and Lyme Disease
Lyme Disease sufferers need to be aware that having mercury poisoning and Lyme Disease at the same time can be a confusing, frustrating,
scary experience. As mentioned before, there is evidence that the Lyme Disease organism intentionally stores and sequesters mercury. This activity results in increased mercury concentrations in and near Lyme Disease colonies in the body—mercury and Lyme Disease are together in close quarters. For anyone afflicted with both mercury toxicity and Lyme Disease, the experience can be a frightening roller coaster ride. The following factors contribute to this experience:
Mercury symptoms can be very similar to Lyme Disease symptoms. Because the Lyme Disease bacteria and mercury typically occupy the same places in the body, the symptoms of each are very difficult to distinguish. Someone with Lyme Disease may not be aware that they have mercury poisoning and thus assume that all of their symptoms are Lyme Disease-related, when in reality, some are mercury symptoms. A person who knows they have both mercury toxicity and Lyme Disease finds that the next challenge is to separate the symptoms and determine which are caused by which problem.
The confusion is compounded by the fact that as mercury chelators mobilize mercury, the Lyme Disease organism reacts. The presence of mercury in the living environment of the bacteria is advantageous to the bacteria. As the mercury-rich environment is altered, the infection responds with self-protective activities. This means that anyone undertaking chelation treatments will not only experience the symptoms and side effects of mercury mobilization and removal, they will also experience the effects of altered Lyme Disease symptoms.
To make matters even more complicated, when Lyme Disease organisms are being killed or attacked, mercury symptoms may be altered as well. As you manipulate the Lyme bacteria’s living environment and kill Lyme Disease organisms, mercury is mobilized and released. Sometimes mercury is actually stored inside a spirochete or bacterial colony itself.
When that colony is disrupted or eradicated (with antibiotics or rife machines or some other anti-Lyme treatment), mercury is released. This results in an outbreak of both herx reaction symptoms and mercury mobilization symptoms. In fact, many herx symptoms commonly experienced by Lyme Disease sufferers are actually symptoms of mercury mobilization. Because dying Lyme Disease organisms can release mercury, it is important to use a mercury detoxification protocol while undertaking anti-Lyme therapy to sop up the mercury that is released during the killing of Lyme Disease bacteria.
